Visitors at the CHBG Editorial Team office/Copenhagen Trial Unit

People from around the world have been visiting us to be taught in and undergo training activities in methods of systematic reviews, systematic review preparation, Trial Sequential Analysis, or what is expected from an editor and editorial policies. This was partly achieved through work on different types of Cochrane reviews and new methodological approaches. 

The below is a list of visitors from 2014 through 2018, and from January 2019 until present.

2014

1. Rosanna Simonetti (CHBG editor), Palermo, Italy. Visit 01.04.2014 – 09.02.2014. 
Purpose of visit: work on the review on ‘Plasma expanders for people with cirrhosis and large ascites treated with abdominal paracentesis’.
Editorial work as CHBG editor.

2. Giovanni Casazza (CHBG editor), University of Milan, Italy. Visit 5 days in April.
Purpose of visit: CTU/CHBG. Erasmus Programme 2013/2014. 
Training activity – staff. Staff Mobility – Staff Training. 

3. Goran Bjelakovic, Nis, Serbia. Visit 27.01.2014 – 22.02.2014. 
Purpose of visit: work on the update of published systematic reviews as well as on new reviews on vitamin D.

4. Chavdar S. Pavlov, Moscow, Russia. Visit 01.03.2014 – 9.04.2014. 
Purpose of visit: work on the ‘Transient elastography for diagnosis of hepatic fibrosis in people with alcoholic liver disease’ review.

5. Mona H. Ismail, Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Visit 2.10.2014 to 11.10.2014. 
Purpose of visit: work on ‘Entecavir versus other antiviral drugs for chronic hepatitis B review’. 
Taught in TSA and systematic review preparation.

2015

1. Chavdar S. Pavlov, Moscow, Russia. Visit from 7.04.2015 to 17.04.2015. 
Purpose of visit: work on updating two intervention review protocols on alcoholic liver disease (S-adenosyl-Lmethionine for alcoholic liver disease and Glucocorticosteroids for people with alcoholic hepatitis); some work on the “Ultrasonography for diagnosis of cirrhosis in patients with alcoholic liver disease” review. EASL Sheila Sherlock Physician Scientist Fellowship recipient (April 2015).

2. Maoling Wei, Chengdu, China. Visit 22.06.2015 to 23.05.2015. 
Purpose of visit: to learn more about CHBG editorial work and explore possibilities for collaboration in the field of clinical trials conductance. Maoling Wei has been helping CHBG since 1998 in searching and coding randomsied clinical trials published in Chinese as well as data extraction. 

3. Karl Heinz Weiss, Heidelberg, Germany. Visit 22.09.2015 to 23.09.2015. 
Purpose of visit: to discuss the update of the ‘Transarterial (chemo)embolisation for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma’ review.
Introduction to TSA and Cochrane methodology.  

4. Kilian Friedrich, Heidelberg, Germany. Visit 22.09.2015 to 23.09.2015. 
Purpose of visit: to discuss the update of the ‘Transarterial (chemo)embolisation for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma’ review. 
Introduction to TSA and Cochrane methodology.

5. Cristina Manzotti, Milan, Italy. Visit 20.09.2015 to 20.12.2015. 
Purpose of visit: to work on the “Total serum bile acids or serum bile acid profile for the diagnosis of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy” diagnostic test accuracy protocol, and review 

6. Tea Stimac, Rijeka, Croatia. Visit 16.11.2015 to 21.11.2015. 
Purpose of visit: to work on the “Total serum bile acids or serum bile acid profile for the diagnosis of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy” diagnostic test accuracy review

2016 

1. Chavdar S. Pavlov, Moscow, Russia. Visit 01.02.2016 to 15.02.2016. 
Purpose of visit: work on ‘Ultrasonography for diagnosis of alcoholic cirrhosis in people with alcoholic liver disease’ review; work on an invited editorial regarding the already published 'Transient elastography for diagnosis of stages of hepatic fibrosis and cirrhosis in people with alcoholic liver disease' review published also in Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics.

2. Daria Varganova, Uljanovsk, Russia. Visit 01.02.2016 to 15.02.2016. 
Purpose of visit: to learn Cochrane review methodology including how to develop a Cochrane protocol for a systematic review, how to critically read and comment on a protocol, and how to develop a protocol into a systematic review. EASL mentorship programme. The programme aims at enhancing scientific exchange and personal development relationships across European countries.

3. Greta Castellini, Milan, Italy. Visit 30.04.2016 - 30.04.2016. 
Purpose of visit: Cochrane methodology in Cochrane systematic reviews.

4. Chavdar S Pavlov, Moscow, Russia. Visit 20.09.2016 – 21.10.2016. 
Purpose of visit: to work on DTAR (Diagnostic test accuracy review) protocols for systematic reviews. Recepient of EASL Sheila Sherlock Physician Scientist Fellowship (received April 2015, work 2016 and 2017). Project title: Diagnostic test accuracy systematic reviews of non-invasive fibrosis tests for patients with alcoholic liver disease and chronic hepatitis C. 

5. Daria Varganova, Uljanovsk, Russia. Visit 20.09.2016 – 21.10.2016. Purpose of visit: to learn and be trained in Cochrane methodology for preparation of a Cochrane systematic reviews and extract data from randomised clinical trials to be included in the ‘Glucocorticosteroids for people with alcoholic hepatitis’ Cochrane systematic review on which she is a co-author. 

6. Jane Campos, Ermita Manila, the Philippines. Visit 18.09.2016 – 19.09.2016. 
Purpose of visit: learn about updated methods in Cochrane systematic review preparation. Some work on the review “Clevudine in people with chronic hepatitis B virus infection”.

2017

1. Goran Bjelakovic, Nis, Serbia. Visit 25.01.2017 – 14.02.2017. 
Purpose of visit: to update two Cochrane systematic reviews on vitamin D assessing the effect of vitamin on prevention of cancer and mortality. Work on the Cochrane review entitled “Vitamin D supplementation for chronic liver diseases in adults”.

2. Jian Ping Liu, Beijing, PR of China. CHBG editor and author. Visit 10.02.2017. 
Purpose of visit: to discuss preparation of reviews on Chinese medicinal herbs and education/training of two Chinese ph.d. students.

3. Ning Liang, Beijing, PR of China. Visit 20.10.2017- ongoing through 2018. 
Purpose of visit: to work on traditional Chinese medicine Cochrane reviews and methodological papers. Currently undertaking a PhD study at the Center for Evidence-based Chinese Medicine, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM).

4. DeZhao Kong, Beijing, PR of China. Visit 20.10.2017 – ongoing through 2018. 
Purpose of visit: to work on traditional Chinese medicine Cochrane reviews and methodological papers. Currently undertaking a PhD study at Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (LUTCM).

2018

1. Goran Bjelakovic, Nis, Serbia. Visit 21.01.2018 – 17.02.2018. 
Purpose of visit: work on a review on vitamin A and mortality.

2. Chikwendu Jeffrey Ede, Johannesburg, South Africa. Visit 26.02.2018 to 9.03.2018. 
Purpose of visit: to be trained in Cochrane systematic review techniques including trial sequential analysis. Work on “Surgical portosystemic shunts versus devascularisation procedures for prevention of variceal rebleeding in people with hepatosplenic schistosomiasis” review. Dr Ede’s entire visit to Copenhagen Trial Unit was financed through a grant sourced from a South African organization.

3. Tea Stimac, Rijeka, Croatia. Visit 06.03.2018. 
Purpose of visit: to discuss future work on reviews and involvement of young physicians from Rijeka, Croatia. 

4. Marko Klarić, Rijeka, Croatia. Visit 06.03.2018 – 09.03.2018. 
Purpose of visit: to be taught in systematic review conductance.

5. Ana-Maria Sopic, Rijeka, Croatia. Visit 06.03.2018 – 09.03.2018. 
Purpose of visit: to be taught in systematic review conductance.

6. Beatriz Sanchez-Jimenez, Toluca, Mexico. Visit 01.08.2018 – 26.10.2018. 
Purpose of visit: to be taught and to work on two review protocols. ‘Antibiotic prophylaxis versus placebo or no intervention for people with cirrhosis’ and variceal bleeding and ‘Antibiotic prophylaxis for people with cirrhosis and variceal bleeding’. 

8. Kurinchi S. Gurusamy, London, UK. Visit 5.10.2018 – 7.10.2018. 
Purpose of visit: work on methodological issues related to Trial Sequential Analysis.

9. Filipa Markotic, Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Visit 06.11.2018 – 28.11.2018.
Purpose of visit: to be trained in Cochrane methodology of systematic review preparation. 
Work on the systematic review protocol ‘Antibiotics for people with cholangitis or cholecystitis or both’.
Filipa's and Svjetlana's (see below) visit is sponsored by their own institutions ‘University Hospital Center Mostar’ and ‘University of Mostar, School of Medicine’.

10. Svjetlana Grgic, Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Visit 06.11.2018 – 28.11.2018.
Purpose of visit: to be trained in Cochrane methodology of systematic review preparation. 
Work on the systematic review protocol ‘Antibiotics for people with cholangitis or cholecystitis or both’.

11. Ning Liang, PhD student. Beijing, PR of China, Visit 20.10.2017- 20.12.2018. 
Purpose of visit: to work on traditional Chinese medicine Cochrane reviews and methodological papers. 
Work on Radix Sophorae flavescentis for chronic hepatitis B and Radix Sophorae flavescentis versus antiviral drugs for chronic hepatitis B. 
Currently undertaking a PhD study at the Center for Evidence-based Chinese Medicine, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM). 

12. DeZhao Kong, PhD student. Beijing, PR of China, Visit 20.10.2017 – 26.10.2018. 
Purpose of visit: to work on traditional Chinese medicine Cochrane reviews and methodological papers. 
Work on Acupuncture for chronic hepatitis B and Xiao Chai Hu Tang, a Chinese herbal medicine formula, for chronic hepatitis B. 
Currently undertaking a PhD study at Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (LUTCM).
