The CHBG's protocol or reviews are published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews which is part of The Cochrane Library. The submissions are monthly; in addition to the new and updated protocols and reviews, all publications from previous issues are also republished until the latter are being updated again.
In the Cochrane Policy Manual, you will read about the rationale for requiring Cochrane authors to publish in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews first. This text is also reproduced below:
The generic Title Registration Form for registering a new Cochrane review was amended to include the following statement:
’The support of the CRG in preparing your review is conditional upon your agreement to publish the protocol, finished review and subsequent updates in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. By completing this form you undertake to publish this review in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (concurrent publication in other journals may be allowed in certain circumstances with prior permission from the CRG).’ "
In the Cochrane Policy Manual, you will read about the Cochrane co-publication policies of Cochrane protocols and reviews in other journals and how to pursue ‘co-publication’ of your protocol or review.
The CHBG is supporting wide dissemination of CHBG protocols and reviews only if these Cochrane protocols and reviews have received the editors' approval for publication in The Cochrane Library, if the integrity of the review is kept, and if credit to authors, editors, funders, other people involved in the process of their preparation, and The CHBG is given and made transparent.
Authors are advised to read and follow carefully the relevant information on the publishing policies in the Cochrane Editorial and Publishing Policy Resource before sending their CHBG protocol or review for publication in other print or online sources.
